Many people have asked me about, how I learned to play guitar? and how I keep improving my playing? I studied Classical guitar and Piano at Veerkamp Stelite in Mexico City when I was very young in which I learned many of the amazing techniques that I nowadays still use to play, compose and teach my self new things but the real strength of my secret comes from my ears, I also play piano and guitar by ear.
The way I will teach my students to play and become fluent in their instrument it’s by imitation at first, I think that my method is simple and it’s been proved by many humans that know how to speak at least one language because that’s the way we learn how to speak our mother tongue. We will treat our instrument in this case the guitar as a new language, the very first thing we will learn is how to imitate sounds like (consonants and vowels). Once we can put together a few of them we can start creating chords as (words). Once we can put together a few chords and some other elements like rythm, color and intention to our music we can start putting together sentences with the nuances that we want to accentuate like if we want to make a happy, warm, full sentences we would use major chords or if we want to sound sad, cold we would use minor chords. And just like this little by little we can start exploring sounds which will take us to start asking our selves why they sound the way they do? And little by little we will introduce our selves to notes, how to put them together to achieve certain sounds, musical modes, the relationship between the notes, the distance in between them etc.
Come and Join me and let me be your host on this guitar Journey there is a world to learn with this wonderful instrument it’s so vast that a life would be to short to learn it all, but with a little guidance you would be surprised how far you can go on this journey.
